Gord Grdina - guitar

A reminder about a very special show coming up this Sunday!

Songs of tales is about telling musical stories. The four musicians here have been carefully chosen for the way they open up their souls and tell riveting musical stories. Rooted in songs, inspired by an orchestral sensibility and improvisation, creates an unforgettable musical experience.

Drummer Jean Martin and violinist Jesse Zubot are the magic band behind the unique sound of Tanya Tagaq. They are both irreplaceably powerful artists in their own right and also revered producers: both Jesse and Jean run their own record labels, Barnyard Records and Drip Audio respectively. Saxophonist Petr Cancura has spent the last decade in New York honing his craft with artists such as Julian Lage, Danilo Perez, Joe Morris. Cancura is clarified an ever exploring style by combining roots music with jazz sensibilities to his very own personal sound. The group is rounded out by a powerful multi-instrumentalist from Vancouver, Gord Grdina. Gord has collaborated with Jazz greats Gary Peacock and Paul Motion, avant garde masters such as Evan Parker and Colin Stetson but is also a large part of the sound of the ever-popular Dan Mangan. All these artists have an uncanny ability to see and hear the big picture in a project.

Come join us, we promise to give you our very best!
